The Corruption of Relpuce

Chapter 1 - Escape!

The group awoke to dim light and the sound of slow dripping. Getting up from the cold stone, they all notice they occupy small cells. Apart from a few rats and the other prisoners the rooms seems empty.

After a long squabbling match between a fat wizard and a extremely large woman, a dwarf walks into the room with a blank expression. Walking to one of the cells and unlocking it he meets his death upon Asteron’s horns, from the guard Asteron retrieved the key to the cells and a small white crystal. Bargains were then made with the rest of the prisoners for their freedom.

Once all released from the cells, the group begins to discuss how they were captured in the first place as none of them remember how they got there. In frustration, or boredom, Reptaur tries to leave the group and walks away. He gets no more than 150 yards before a silver band around his neck constricts, sapping his health. The group quickly discover they all have this band, and are unable to move very far away from each other before it starts draining health.

The group engage a dwarven guards upon leaving, and without weapons or armor have a little difficulty dispatching them, alhough showing Some ingenuity, Xoroku “armed” himself with a blunt weapon in the shape of a dwarfs limb. During the fight Asteron was hit by one of the dwarfs and a split second later a tiefling fell out of his pocket and fell stunned onto the stone floor. She introduces herself as Risa and declares Asteron her master. Asteron found this acceptable.

Finding weapons, armor and items, they start squabbling over the loot that is left. In angsty frustration again Reptaur tries to walk away and again the band constricts around his neck draining his health.

Further exploration the group finds a chute down to a sewer, but finding this route overly disgusting decide against it. More guards are dispatched that are guarding a prison cell with other assorted prisoners. Through electrocution, conflagration and general intimidation tactics, the prisoners quickly fall in line and are doing what they are told.

One of the kobolds is thrown into the sewer to see where it leads, but after a few minutes nothing is heard. The idea was put forward to light one on fire and then send it down the sewer, but Xoroku lead that off and took the rest of the prisoners for use as “axe fodder”.

The group as a whole moved south and kicked down the door barring their way and throwing a kobold into the room at random, getting a surprise attack on nine dwarves. An alarm is activated, and even though quickly turned off again by belkas, alerts the guard captain and his subordinates. After a lengthy battle the group are able to leave the confines of the prison, and find themselves high in the mountains.

Xoroku recognizes the lay of the land from this vantage as his homeland, but as of yet has not spoken much about this. Risa is slightly disturbed as she doesn’t recognize anything around her. The group take camp a little way from the prison as to not attract attention to themselves and get ready for a nights rest.

Chapter 2 - Descent to Nulbund

As grouped settled down for the night, Xoroku explains that this is his homeland, and shows the group a rough layout. Around the campfire the group shares stories from their past during a drinking game of Summit Striders.

As the group rests, a voice enters their minds. Although none of them can understand the wording that is used, images are portrayed showing vast armies pouring out of portals into this world. Images of death and destruction, burning and pillaging fill the groups minds eye before an image of large chunks of the world flying high up in the sky. THis image filled the group with an intense anger before dissipating.

The idea given from these images is that a melevolent being of some sort sent armies into this world to have it destroyed. And that this plan was foiled by the lifting of inveile. This being isn’t content with letting flying continants fly. The last image given is of a town near the edge of a mountain range, and then the presence leaves their minds.

Waking up from this manifestation, risa questions the history shown in her vision. She explains her past story, and is slightly disturbed that she doesn’t know any of what has happened.

It’s also noticed that the silver chokers that they had on when they awoke have fallen off during the night, but have been replaced with a tattoo on the back of the neck. Summit strider is quite upset about this and tries to remove it with a knife. Only able to dull the tattoo, Belkas tries to trick her into believing it is completely gone. This not working Belkas uses his skills to hid the tattoo from view.

The tattoos not seeming to have the same damaging effect as the chokers, make everyone aware of the other members around them, as well as another person off to the east

As a group they decide to head down to the town portrayed in their vision, hoping to get more of an idea as to what to do next. Although Xoroku seems to have his own agenda in regards to the group. As the are moving through the mountainous foothills the group is attacked by a pair of larg rocs.

During the fight, as they are about to finish off the last roc, a drow joins them in battle. The group notices as a whole that the person they sensed of to the east is none other than this person. He introduces himself as Antaufein and is an emmisary of the “The Shadow”.

The group heads down to the local town of Nulbund, they notice that the town isn’t the cleanest of places. Refuse litters the streets, but the residents don’t seem to notice. Even though the occupants of the town are of mixed races, you notice that most of the stores and shops look to be run by hobgoblins.

The group heads straight for the local arena. After some excessive cheating by members of the group and some spectacular moves by summit strider and the two enslaved kobolds the pit battle is won. Thoroughly frustrated at the lack of killing blows, summit striders kicks one of the dead drakes heads clean off, impaling it on one of the arena spikes. The crowds cheer in appreciation and mob the victory stand as summit strider gets her winnings.

As the crowds dissapate, a trader asks to buy the kobold slaves and even though much bargaining was done by belkas, the kobolds view Xoroku as their true master as he freed them and gave them purpose. Xoroku frees them, and the Kobolds vow to spread the name of the true prince of the orcs.

The groups heads to the inn to get a nights rest, they sit down to a meal and beverages and after a drunken mishap on Risa’s behalf, the barkeep is knocked unconcious and the patrons become exceptionally unruly. Free meals and drinks are passed out for all.
